Second Story Gardens [Tucker High School]
Tucker, GA
Second Story Gardens is a local Georgia nonprofit that promotes healthy eating habits and reduces food deserts in urban and suburban areas. The organization builds aquaponics gardens at public schools with students, concurrently educating the kids on sustainable farming, engineering, and design. Tucker High School was the site of their third and largest project, incorporating their existing STEM program to construct a new greenhouse and koi pond, as well as a bogg garden to provide fresh water for the school's fish fry. A future phase includes a living wall and mural that beautifies the adjacent street.
