Rethink Freedom Parkway

Atlanta, GA

With an eye to highway tear-down projects around the world, this idea suggests that Atlanta’s Freedom Parkway would find more value as a park than a way. Historically a bittersweet compromise between a full-fledged highway and the communities that stood in its path, today it provides only minor utility for traffic and creates a barrier that separates neighborhoods. By rethinking what most people see as permanent through an idea pitch that prioritizes the lives of people over cars, Generator can illustrate ways to look differently at the world around us, and better understand how that world shapes our lives.
